The top-class ingredients of the French picnic have always been wine, cheese and bread in a wicker basket and accompanied by a red check tablecloth. At Alcaufar Vell we prepare a local version based on local produce to be able to “head for the meadow” and appreciate the natural reserve that the estate has to discover.
The English start with 5 o’clock tea. Then come the Italians with the aperitivo. We say having a drink but the essence is the same, meeting and feeling it is well worth enjoying the art of living while the sun sets behind the hundred-year-old wild olive trees of Alcaufar Vell on a perfect evening.
